Marae Meeting: Date Change

Kia ora rā,

There are a lot of kaupapa hapening this month whānau see below….

  • Aunty Emere and Te Atakohu’s Birthdays at the Cosmopolitan Club on Saturday night. It is for this reason that the meeting date is changed from this Sunday.
  • Rugby World Cup begins. The opening ceremony involves the Waka Taua boys. It is for this reason that next Sunday 11th is probably out as well.
  • Experience Aotearoa: Lee-Ann Sperling Muntz and Craig Muntz are involved in a tourism venture while the Rugby World Cup games are happening in Hamilton. They are asking for whānau who are available and willing to lend a hand. For more information on this click the link Aotearoa Experience. This is the other reason why next Sunday 11th is out as whānau may be involved in the venture.

As such we have decided to move the marae meeting date to Sunday 25th September 2011 at Te Manawa o Matariki, start time promtply at 10:00am.

This meeting will probably be for the month of October as well, as there are a few committee members who will not be in the country for a good portion of October. This will be talked about at the meeting.

Ngā mihi

Tainui Exhibition at Te Papa

Date: 3rd September 2011 – 2014
Venue: Te Papa Museum, Iwi Gallery, Level 4

Tai timu, tai pari, Tainui: Journey of a people tells the epic story of Tainui – New Zealand’s largest tribal grouping. The Tainui people invite you to journey with them, from their origins in East Polynesia to their lives in present-day Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

Follow the courage and resourcefulness of their early ancestors, who voyaged across the Pacific to establish themselves in Aotearoa New Zealand. Admire the resilience and adaptability of subsequent generations in facing the challenges that confronted them, especially the arrival of European settlers. Marvel at the stories of their inspirational leaders and taonga (cultural treasures).

Tai timu, tai pari, Tainui: Journey of a people was developed in conjunction with the Tainui Waka Alliance – an association of five Tainui iwi (tribes): Hauraki, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Raukawa, Te Kawerau-a-Maki, and Waikato.
